Tai’s practice explores the relationship between objects, space, and everyday life. Through installation, painting objects, and found materials, he treats artworks not as images but as spatial entities, emphasizing perception, arrangement, and the exhibition as an active, evolving process.
Makeover
of the Drawing Studio

Makeover of the Drawing Studio, 2025
collaborative work by 姚仲鈞、曾馬克、Tsai Cheng-Lin, and Tzu Yen Tai

This project responds to a special drawing studio at the artists’ university. Although the space is usually closed to students, it is opened and prominently displayed when visitors arrive, with particular emphasis placed on the plaster casts it contains. This selective presentation produces a sense of authority and mystery around the studio. In response, the artists reverse this hierarchy in a playful manner by removing the lighting that typically elevates the casts, and instead redirecting attention toward the ordinary equipment within the space.
